Websocket EMV system update

Websocket EMV system update

Thank you for being a valued customer and for participating in early EMV testing.

You should take pride in being among the early adopters of EMV in the US and your efforts to protect yourselves and your customers from fraudulent transactions.

The purpose of this communication is to inform you of a system update that will ensure your EMV card reader continues to work properly with the upcoming industry changes. This update is necessary to address the loss of java applet support by internet browsers that is occurring.

On Monday, January 30 at approximately 2pm PDT, we will be updating the system, adding the ability for your EMV card reader to continue process transactions once java applet support is removed by the internet browsers. Your user experience will change slightly as described below.

What to expect after this update:

1. You will see a message box fly in from the top right area of your screen when you go to process a transaction titled “PayTrace Card Reader Service is Not Running”. Press the START SERVICE button in that box.

2. If you see a dialogue box display titled “Opening Card Reader Service”, verify the ‘Open with’ filed has “Java Web Start” selected/displayed and select the OK button.

These steps will allow you to continue processing your transaction. You may see a java icon in your system tray.

NOTE: You may need to repeat these steps for the first transaction each day, or with different individual logins.

To provide additional support through this minor change, we have developed a video showing how the new experience will work.

In addition to the instructions listed above and video, a client support representative will be calling you on Monday or Tuesday to verify you have received this message and address any questions you may have.

Respectfully,

The PayTrace EMV Team
