Mentoring the next generation

Talent team members Maria G. and Heather W. were interested in discovering a way to volunteer that created connection and provided a lasting impact. Both discovered the Prime Time mentoring program three years ago and have been active mentors ever since.

“I was intrigued by how much of an impact these mentoring relationships have on the students,” said Maria G. “Having an ongoing relationship with a role model that isn’t a teacher or family member has such tremendous benefits for the kids confidence, interpersonal, and academic skills.”

Mentors are matched with a student who has been identified as at risk for not graduating. This match lasts throughout the duration of a school year, and can continue for consecutive years.

“This is my third year mentoring and I’ve been with the same mentee for the last two years. I meet with her every Tuesday during her lunch and recess break. We eat our lunches together and spend the rest of the time playing board games and talking. People have invested in me throughout my life, and I think it’s important to give that back and hopefully inspired others to continue their education and see the potential in their own future,” said Heather W.

PayTrace provides volunteer paid time off and encourages team members to get involved in the communities where they live and work. It’s one of the company’s core values. That’s not all, PayTrace also allows team members to designate $200 to charities of their choice.

“It is truly heartwarming to see all of the choices our team members make to donate their time and designated company dollars,” said Maria G.
